Jose Miguel brings pure passion and a love of farm-to-fork eating to his job at Sodexo. Jose grew up in Los Angeles, a vibrant melting pot studded with culinary greats and a bounty of authentic farmer’s markets, where he soaked up the knowledge and experience of world cuisine. Beginning his culinary career at age 17, his professional background includes stings under LA’s greatest chef, including Joachim Splichal, Wolfgang Puck, Paul Shoemaker, Kerry Simon, David Feu and In New York under Josh DeChellis.
Jose attended the California School of Culinary Arts Le Cordon Bleu program in Pasadena, California. After several years working for the culinary masters in fine dining restaurants in California and New York he was recruited to join the LifeWorks team in Southern California, quickly distinguishing himself with his fresh, creative and nutrient-dense cooking style. He relocated to the Silicon Valley when he was promoted to Executive Chef in San Jose, California.
After a few years of cooking for Silicon Valley’s elite, he moved back to Southern California to accept a position with Sodexo’s Local Artisan team at DirecTV in El Segundo.
Having cooked personally for the First Family, Jose’s prudent moment came when celebrity chef Curtis Stone praised Jose’s cooking at Taberna Mexicana in Beverly Hills, resulting in a TV Spot on “Good Day LA.” You can find Jose trolling the local farmer’s markets for micro herbs, citrus fruits, and boutique oils and bottles of vinegar, which he uses to enhance his Mediterranean and Latin-inspired cooking.
Jose’s motto in the kitchen is, “Happy Farmers, Happy Cooks!”
